Inchehborun, the golden transit gateway between Iran, Central Asia and China

Tehran – In a meeting with members of the Iranian Parliament’s Civil Commission and Golestan provincial officials, the CEO of Iran Railways stressed the significance of the North–South Corridor activation through the Inchehborun border, pointing 10 million tons of transit cargo capacity of the route annually.
Dr. Zakari believes that Sarakhs rail border, Amirabad Port, Caspian Port, and the Inchehborun rail border are the key rail border points which connect Iranian Railway network to CIS countries.
Stating at a joint meeting with the Golestan Governor’s Office, the CEO of the Iranian Railways emphasized the necessity of activating the North–South Corridor through Inchehborun, he noted that the route has an annual capacity of over 10 million tons of non-oil cargo.
Citing transit statistics, Dr. Zakeri stated that cargo transit along this corridor reached 409,000 tons in the first eight months of the year—a strong increase compared to the same period last year—and is expected to see significant growth by year-end.
Dr. Zakari stressed that this corridor is the shortest, safest, and most economical transit route for Central Asian countries and China, with a short-term capacity of 3 million tons of freight.
He added that Iranian railway network is closely interlinked with Turkmenistan’s network and efforts are underway to enhance connections with Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.
He also underlined the need to expand logistics capabilities at the Inchehborun border and called for greater engagement of investor companies in this area.
