RAI is ready to connect northern and southern neighbors of Iran to each other

The CEO of the Iranian railways announced readiness for connecting the CIS countries to southern free waters of Iran.
The joint meeting between Dr. Zakeri the CEO of the Iranian Railways (RAI) and Mammet Akmammedow the Minister of Railways of Turkmenistan held at RAI headquarter in Tehran.
Emphasizing the significance of increase in rail transit exchanges between the two states, Zakeri called for using the Iranian rail network to access the southern free waters by CIS countries. The President of the Iranian Railways also asserted his consent for increasing the number of Chinese train into Iran.
“We have planned for receiving 300 freight trains from China which many of them are done”, Zakeri said. In the other part of his words, the CEO of RAI described the current infrastructural rail projects for expansion of new rail routes between Iran and Turkey.
“Tabriz – Marand -Cheshmeا Soraya route is considered as one of the most significant infrastructural projects of our country which connects the rail network of Iran to Turkey. The route length is aboput 270 km and more than its 50 km is ready for operation now.’’ Zakeri said while he promised for completion of the project till 3 or 4 years later.
Referring to the completion of the Chabahar-Zahedan railway project in the near future, the CEO of the railway called the role of this railway route in facilitating rail exchanges in the North-South corridor significant.
Referring to Belarus’s welcome for connecting to the open waters of southern Iran and Pakistan through the Iranian railway network, he also invited Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan to take advantage of this opportunity.
